The Amazons

The Amazons were the most hotly tipped band of 2017 earning themselves a place on MTV’s Ones To Watch list among others. They followed through with their debut album reaching #8 in the official chart. From BBC Radio 1 and 6Music A-lists, to rounding off the campaign with a sold-out tour including London’s Kentish Town Forum, The Amazons are now a rock band poised for greatness in 2019.

Pale Waves

From uploading their first songs in 2015 to the sold-out live dates, rampant critical acclaim and rapidly expanding fan community of 2018, Heather Baron-Gracie (vocals), Ciara Doran (drums), Hugo Silvani (guitar) and Charlie Wood (bass) have already scorched an impressive path through pop with singles like My Obsession and There’s A Honey. And that album? Well think of it as being a bit like a playlist, but controversially all the songs actually make sense together. It’s shaping up to be an uncommonly special debut, with new tracks such as Eighteen and One More Time capturing the turbulence and brutality of love in remarkable detail.

Jack Saunders

Jack Saunders will be hosting MTV Presents!
Since being the Station Manager of Nottingham Trent University’s student radio station, Fly FM, Jack Saunders has worked his way to the top, now hosting the Indie Show on BBC Radio 1, Monday-Thursday 11pm-1am. An avid lover of all things alternative, Jack worked for Kerrang! Radio, and Radio X before joining the Radio 1 family. Not content with just being on the radio, Jack also promotes his own monthly gig night – ‘Hopscotch’, supporting the most exciting upcoming talent, has worked with the Cereal Killer Café presenting a YouTube series and MTV; interviewing huge names including Green Day, Ed Sheeran and Biffy Clyro.

The Vaccines

Combat Sports is the sound of The Vaccines being The Vaccines. Their fourth album is the sound of one of the defining British rock and roll bands of their generation at full throttle, setting aside pop experiments and concentrating on what caused the rabid excitement at their arrival in 2010. Combat Sports is a record of guitars, of brevity, of speed, of breathless excitement. From pure Vaccines rock and roll (Put It on a T-Shirt, I Can’t Quit, Surfing In The Sky) through to powerpop (Out in the Street, which was inspired by Big Star, and Take It Easy, which came from listening to Dwight Tilley and Tom Petty) Combat Sports a record that defiantly reasserts the Vaccines’ case to be one of the great English rock bands of their time.

Yungblud

Since making his full-length debut with 2018’s 21st Century Liability, Yungblud has injected an unruly vitality into the musical landscape, setting his sharp-tongued social commentary to a wildly cathartic, guitar-fueled sound. With his force-of-nature energy and unhinged charisma, the London-based artist otherwise known as Dominic Harrison spent much of 2018 on the road, taking the stage at festivals like Lollapalooza, Life Is Beautiful and Reading and Leeds, and bringing his potent message of anti-conformity to a fast-growing and fired-up audience. “This last year’s just been mad; everything’s coming together in the way I always dreamed it would,” says Harrison. “I feel like I’m building something real: a community of people who feel like they can be themselves, no matter what the world tells them to be.”
